Multi-Applications

Medical applications for RFThe three most common applications for RF Power are:

  • Welding & Sealing (of plastics/polymers and related hybrid composites)
  • Induction Heating (to temper, treat or surface harden metals)
  • Plasma processing, semiconductor processing, surface treatment

For welding applications the potential uses are enormous especially in higher tech industries. These include:

  • Medical Products e.g. the welding of disposable plastic medical products
  • Life Critical Products e.g. Aircraft inflated escapes slides and marine liferafts
  • Leisure Products e.g. Rigid Inflatable Boats
  • Food Industries e.g. Food packaging including the latest composite materials

Curing enamel coated wires using RFFor induction heating applications, the real, supreme benefit of our control systems, high frequency RF amplifiers and matching networks is that they can provide very localised heat meaning they are ideal for smaller components. The heat zone is at exactly the right temperature to just the right depth or small surface area. This can dramatically improve quality and cut down waste compared to conventional heat treatments that simply cannot administer targeted treatment. Uses are many varied and include:

  • Wire heating including curing enamel coated wires
  • Optical fibre production
  • Saw blades
  • Small and even delicate metal components

It doesn’t stop there….

Such is the versatility of RF Power that there are numerous other potential applications for example:

  • Cooking & Pasteurisation: RF Energy applied in this area can produce many advantages including fast temperature rise, excellent temperature stability, improved operating efficiency and a huge reduction in the floor area needed for the equipment.
  • Dielectric heating: We are able to design and manufacture custom dielectric process systems operating at any of the allocated ISM frequencies, covering a broad range of applications.
